How to Dazzle Your Valentine

How to Dazzle Your Valentine… The countdown has begun and there are two days left until Valentine’s Day. Are you still scrambling to come up with ideas for the perfect handmade Valentine’s Day gift?  Is your time limited? Do you want to make a dazzling impression?  I have EXCITING NEWS!!! Today I have an exciting recipe and gift packaging idea that you can whip up in 30 minutes. This is so easy and beautiful that people won’t believe you put this together at the last minute.

CANDY BOX 1Love You

There is nothing as special as a handmade gift to say I love you.  The problem many of us crafters face is that we want it to be “perfect”.  Unfortunately, this translates to numerous hours spent on the Internet searching and many times coming back empty-handed.  I don’t have time for that and I am sure you don’t either.

So, instead of recreating a new box I took the one I made during my 12 Weeks of Christmas Newsletter. With a few changes, I was able to make this box for Valentine’s Day in less than five minutes.  I even got to use my stash of patterned paper that is stacking up.

CANDY BOX 3Handmade Tag

I decided to spice up my tag and make it more fit for a man AKA my husband. This tag looks like it took hours to make but it was actually very simple to make and yet it has a stunning effect, yet masculine feel to it.

If you have been following my posts this week, you know that I have been using the Silhouette.  The word “love” was cut from a piece of Black Diamond Craft Metal Sheet that had Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet on the back. Then, I simply peeled it and attached it to my Add a Little Dazzle Craft Metal Sheet just like I would vinyl.

The heart was created using a Heart Die Cut and Scarlet Red Craft Metal Sheet. Using the Double-Sided Adhesive Sheets on the back of the metal sheets makes adhering the pieces easy.

I wanted to add an extra effect and so I pulled out my Basic Embossing Tool Kit and outlined it with the Deer Foot Refiner Tool, puffed it out with the Paper Stump, and filled the back with Backing Paste so the embossed images wouldn’t crush.

CANDY BOX 2Dark Chocolate Almond Clusters

A month ago, I signed up with Beyond Fit Mom to learn more about eating healthier. I had been following Kate on Facebook for over a year and I was ready to take the next step.

I wanted to make a special treat for my honey for Valentine’s Day and so I found this yummy recipe on Kate’s Facebook Pag and made them. Oh my goodness!!! These are delicious and they are healthy.  I will confess that Dark Chocolate and I are not having a love love relationship right now and so I used Milk Chocolate Chips for my Almond Clusters.

I invite you to check out Kate’s blog and Facebook page.  She will be a Guest Blogger here this month. Have any suggestions for a post? Have a burning question for her? Leave me a comment and I will pass it on to her.  We will make sure to tie in crafting with her guest post. 🙂

  1. Thanks, Monica, for this awesome recipe!! My hubby loves dark chocolate and nuts and so I made a double recipe of these for him….some for that day and some to nibble on when he travels. HE LOVED THEM!!! And I felt very good about having made a not-too-sugary sweet treat for him.

Thanks again for sharing this with us and inspiring us!!!
