Best Clean Eating Steak Marinade Ever

Clean Eating Steak Marinade. Summer is here and there is nothing more delicious than a steak on the grill. For years, I have a tried and true steak marinade I have used for my meat.  It has never disappointed and whenever I use it for my steaks/meats I have people begging me for the recipe. Well, I am excited to let you know that I have “cleaned up” the recipe and have created a clean eating version of this marinade. I promise you are going to love it and it’s going to be your go-to steak marinade recipe.

BEST CLEAN EATING STEAK MARINADE EVERBest Marinade Ever

There is nothing like cooking on the grill. I love the smell of the grill and the taste of grilled food. For 12 years, I have a recipe that I have used without fail. Every time I marinade meat with it people go crazy over the taste.  I found this recipe in a grill manual, but unfortunately it was NOT CLEAN and full of harmful ingredients I would never use now.

Two important changes I made to make this fit my clean eating lifestyle was using Olive Oil instead of Vegetable/Canola Oil and using Coconut Aminos instead of Soy Sauce. Coconut Aminos is the perfect replacement for Soy Sauce without the effects that Soy Sauce causes on our hormones. You can purchase it in a small bottle or a larger container.  I purchase the larger as it saves me 50 cents per ounce.

Not only did I turn this into a “clean eating” marinade but I added some extra ingredients to give it my personal touch. Goya Adobo Seasoning is a delicious hispanic seasoning I use for all my cooking. Stay tuned as I will be sharing that recipe this week.

Benefits of Olive Oil

Olive Oil is one of those oils that has a lot of proven health benefits and can actually save your life. It is rich in monounsaturated oleic acid. This fatty acid is believed to have many beneficial effects, and is a healthy choice for your clean eating cooking. Here are some of them:

1.  Pain Relief.  Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains substances called oleocanthal and oleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory agents. It’s a natural Ibuprofen. Research increasingly suggests inflammation impacts a number of chronic diseases, so olive oil’s anti-inflammatory properties grow more compelling all the time.

2. Reduce Heart Problems: Natural Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains 70% monounsaturated fatty acid. As a result, it lowers cholesterol accumulation in the blood, lowers blood pressure, and reduces heart problems. It reduces the LDL, while at the same time increasing the HDL levels.

3. Weight Loss.   Eating fat does not make you fat and olive oil is no exception. A diet rich in extra virgin olive oil may deliver greater and longer lasting weight loss results than a low-fat diet.

4. Reduces the Risk of Diabetes.  Olive oil appears to be highly protective against diabetes.  It helps regulate and balance our insulin levels, so you’re not having those spikes.

5. Cancer. Olive oil is said to protect the human body against cancerous growth, especially bowel cancer. People in Mediterranean countries have a lower risk of some cancers, and many researchers believe that olive oil may have something to do with it.  The antioxidants in olive oil can reduce oxidative damage due to free radicals, which is believed to be one of the leading drivers of cancer.

6. Anti-Bacterial Properties. Extra virgin olive oil has been shown to be particularly effective against Helicobacter pylori, a type of bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers and stomach cancer.  (Source)

Important to Remember: The importance of getting the right kind of olive oil is the only type that contains all the antioxidants and bioactive compounds. But even so, there is a lot of  fraud in the olive oil market, and many oils that have “extra virgin” on the label have been diluted with other refined oils.  Therefore, do some research and make sure that you’re actually getting real extra virgin olive oil.
