 Did You Know?

As I was researching different card base sizes, I learned that the standard size of handmade cards in the US and Canada are made using an 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of card stock. This size is referred to as “letter size”.  If you live outside the US and Canada you can create a standard size card using an A4 piece of card stock.  One-quarter of the A4 sheet is also considered a standard card size.

Did you know you can even use a standard card stock to produce one large card or a variety of smaller cards?  Knowing the measurements of cards that can be created from a single sheet of card stock will add variety and allow you to plan your card making projects.

Four Variations

When creating a standard size card base, there are four different variations. The important thing to remember is that you will achieve this by cutting the “letter size” card stock in half and then folding it in half.  Note: If you follow these steps, you can get two card bases from each piece of card stock.
