frozen cupMy Starting Point

When thinking of what to create for this week’s challenge, many thoughts ran through my head.  I knew I wanted to make something for Valentine’s Day and originally I was going in a completely different direction.  Then, as I was cleaning my office I found some snowflakes and wanted to figure out how I could incorporate them into a Valentine’s Day themed card.

I struggled for a while and then it hit me Frozen.  I have two girls at home who love this movie and would love a Frozen themed card. Although my idea was great “in my head”, it wasn’t that easy when I arrived at Walmart and this was the only thing they had on the shelves.  I was determined to make a card from this paper cup and so I let this be my starting point.

To create this card, I started by cutting the paper cup. Once I had it laid flat, I took a Labels Collection Framelit from Stampin’ Up!, placed it on top, and ran it through the Big Shot. It was the perfect fit for this piece and looked perfect. Then, I created the frame around the image by flipping the framelit on the other side, tracing it, and cutting it out by hand. This created the perfect matted piece for my paper cup image.

Then, I went from there and picked colors from the image that would look well together. My card base is Stampin’ Up’s! Rich Razzleberry Card Stock.  Then, I used for the light blue background I used Baby Blue Craft Metal Sheets and die cut the snowflake background using the Snowflake Cutting Plate.

It is important to remember that you will also need Double Sided Adhesive Sheets and Metal Adaptor Shim. This will allow you to get a crisp cut and already have adhesive on the back side of your craft metal sheet so you can easily adhere it to the Baby Blue Craft Metal Sheet.

Here is a close up look so you can see for yourself how regal this card looks.  It is perfect for that special girl. Whether it is for Valentine’s Day, birthday, or even a birthday card invitation it is sure to be loved. With the Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet on back of the Snowflake Cutting Plate you can be sure this intricate piece will not come apart.

I stamped a Valentine’s message on the inside of my card but this card is versatile and you can stamp it with any message you choose. You can even stamp it with a birthday card invitation stamp so you can fill it in with all the information for the birthday party.  Want to see a great Frozen Party Favor?  Check out the Frozen Candy Wand.
